Events

Events organized by the Mediterranean Diet have multiple objectives: raising awareness and informing the public and public authorities about the Mediterranean diet, presenting the latest results and data gathered from published studies, planning, discussing and presenting new techniques to produce components of the diet, examining innovative ways of spreading and advocating greater awareness about the Mediterranean diet.

Here are some of the events that have recently been organized by the foundation:

The “Controra di Primavera” Manifestation, Ostuni, April 23 and 26 and May 1st, 2015

In collaboration with other local groups and associations, in April 2015 the Urbiterre association organized the 2nd edition of the “Controra di Primavera” in Cisternino, a village of ancient origins in Southern Italy. The event boasted a full program dedicated to multifunctionality in agriculture in view of the Expo Milano 2015 which was about to be inaugurated in Milan.

Called “Art, culture and rurality” the program included excursions, food tastings, workshops, music, exhibitions, educational and didactic activities concerned with protecting the local culture, the environment and the landscape, and seminars promoting economic and social development. On May 1st the Urbiterre association in collaboration with a local journal “Portagrande,” organized a seminar entitled “Diet, territory and sustainability: a patrimony to protect and to enhance” The seminar was held in the context of an agriculture fair animated by social and economic objectives.
